01 · Why consulting

Before the work begins

A good tree decision starts before the chainsaw.

Trees live at the intersection of safety, ecology, design, and property value. When the decision is complex, you need more than a quick opinion. You need an arborist who can read the whole site.

Our consulting work turns field observations into clear, well-supported recommendations, so you can move forward with confidence and care.

02 · Selected services

Where judgment matters

Technical insight,
translated into
confident decisions.

Every engagement is shaped around the property, the tree, and the decision in front of you.

Local ordinance support

We provide tree inventories, preservation recommendations, and arboricultural documentation for projects involving the City of Asheville UDO tree rules and Article XIX tree canopy standards, the Buncombe County Land Development and Subdivision Ordinance, the City of Hendersonville Zoning Ordinance landscaping requirements, and the Town of Black Mountain Land Use Code.

03 · Our approach

Measured, useful, human

From uncertainty to a practical path forward.

01

Observe

We begin with the tree, its history, its surroundings, and the question you need answered.

02

Assess

We examine condition, site constraints, risk, and realistic options, not just the most immediate fix.

03

Advise

You receive a clear path forward, explained in plain language and shaped around your property.

Arborist-led guidance

Advice grounded in years of climbing, caring, and returning.

Asheville Arborists was founded by Nich Maidment in 2010. Today, consulting is led by Nich Maidment, ISA Certified Arborist® (SO-5600A), with experience in tree risk, natural resources, plant health, crane operations, and the realities of working in Western North Carolina's varied terrain.

We believe the best recommendations are technically sound, understandable, and honest about tradeoffs.
